Activate RingAssist: Set Up Your Call Forwarding

Getting Started

To start using RingAssist, you need to forward your phone calls to your dedicated RingAssist number. This guide walks you through the process for every major carrier and phone type.

What Is Call Forwarding?

Call forwarding is when your phone automatically sends incoming calls to another number — in this case, your RingAssist number. Once enabled, calls to your business line will be handled by RingAssist's AI receptionist.

There are two types of call forwarding:

General Setup Steps

1 Open your phone's dialer (the app you use to make calls).
2 Enter the setup code followed by your RingAssist number (e.g., **21*[RingAssistNumber]#).
3 Press the Call button.
4 Listen for a confirmation tone or message indicating forwarding is active.

iPhone users: Make sure to turn off Live Voicemail in your phone settings. Live Voicemail can prevent RingAssist from receiving forwarded calls when you don't answer — especially if you're using conditional forwarding.

Carrier-Specific Instructions

Find your carrier below and use the corresponding dial codes. Replace [RingAssistNumber] with the phone number provided in your RingAssist account.

VoIP Services

If you use a VoIP provider such as OpenPhone, RingCentral, Google Voice, Grasshopper, DialPad, Vonage Business, Zoom Phone, or FreedomVoice, call forwarding is configured through the provider's app or web dashboard rather than with dial codes. Check your provider's settings for a "Call Forwarding" or "Routing" option and enter your RingAssist number there.

Turning Off Call Forwarding

If you need to disable forwarding on a GSM network (AT&T, T-Mobile, and their MVNOs), you can use these universal codes:

Action Dial Code
Disable all forwarding ##21#
Disable busy forwarding ##67#
Disable no-answer forwarding ##61#
Disable unreachable forwarding ##62#

Verizon and Boost Mobile don't support condition-specific disable codes. Use the general disable code listed in their section above.
